What
is Beat Baby?
A
Beat Baby
is not quite a puppet and so much more than a cuddly toy, and if you
don’t have
one in your setting you are really missing a trick!
Beat Baby is an appealing character designed
to bring excitement and encouragement to rhyme and music sessions, and
this is
exactly what she does. This
tiny
character curls up in a ball, secured by two magnets until the children
wake
her up with a rhyme or a song, whereupon she opens up to reveal an
expression
that never fails to elicit ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from everyone.
Beat
Baby
has been used in early years settings for this purpose for over five
years, but
some settings have gone so much further by using her for promoting
speaking,
listening, creativity and thinking skills.
Children have written stories about Beat Babies,
made homes for Beat
Babies, and taken them home with messages and bedtime stories.
