Over the last few years there has been much interest in what has broadly been termed ‘Learning Styles’ – our five senses - the systems we use to collect information from the outside world.
When engaged in learning activities we all use our senses differently. Some of us may be very strong visual learners, others may rely more on their sense of hearing. Kinaesthetic learners prefer a ‘hands on’ approach.
When we are working with children it is very easy to work to our own preferred systems and children who do not share our preference can be disadvantaged! A further outcome can be that the children who do share our preferences will not be challenged and encouraged to develop their weaker senses.
The activities and experiences in this book are all aimed at developing sensory awareness We hope that you find them both useful and enjoyable, but most of all, we hope they result in both you and the children becoming more aware of your senses, and in consequence, using them more effectively! This pack includes the practitioners resource book and Vaky soft toy resource.
